RAJSHAHI, Aug 15, 2026 (BSS) – A special doa mahfil was held at the RUET Central Mosque today praying for the departed soul of former Prime Minister Begum Khaleda Zia and remember those who were martyred or injured in the July 2024 mass uprising.

Organised at noon, the doa mahfil was attended by Director of the Directorate of Student Welfare at RUET Professor Dr Md Rabiul Islam Sarker, representing the RUET administration, along with teachers from various departments, students, officers and staff of the university.

At the doa mahfil, prayers were offered for the forgiveness of the departed soul of Begum Khaleda Zia. Her role in transforming the former Bangladesh Institute of Technology (BIT) into Rajshahi University of Engineering and Technology (RUET), and her contributions to the country's development, were also recalled at the doa mahfil.

Special prayers were offered for the members of her family.
