DHAKA, Aug 15, 2026 (BSS) – With sincere efforts of the government, Petrobangla today supplied 2,443 mmcfd gas to the national grid with a view to coping with existing crisis.

“We are trying to supply a higher volume of gas to the national grid to ensure uninterrupted industrial production as well as electricity generation and normalize the supply chain,” Petrobangla Chairman Adbul Mannan told BSS here today.

He said that imported LNG is being supplied to the national gas through two floating LNG terminals operated by Excelerate Energy and Summit Group after recent technical and weather-related disruptions.

According to the Petrobangla, the country has been supplying 2,443  mmcfd gas to the national grid against the growing demand. It said 1615 mmcfd gas is being produced from the domestic sources, while 828  mmcfd gas is coming from the regasification LNG.

Of the total supplied gas, Chevron has been providing 870 mmcfd, Bangladesh Gas Fields Company Limited (BGFCL) 477 mmcfd, Sylhet GAS Fields Limited (SGFL) 139 mmcfd, Bangladesh Petroleum Exploration and Production Company Limited (BAPEX) 96 mmcfd and Tullow 33 mmcfd.

The Petrobangla chairman said that Excelerate energy’s FSRU would have to shutdown to bring it in full scale operation.

The imported LNG supply to the national gas grid increased to 828  million cubic feet per day today as both floating LNG terminals operated by Excelerate Energy and Summit Group resumed operations following recent disruptions. 

However, the official said Summit was likely supplying around 450 mmcfd, with the remaining volume coming from Excelerate Energy’s terminal at Moheshkhali.
