RANGPUR, Dec 19, 2025 (BSS) - Begum Rokeya University, Rangpur (BRUR) Vice-chancellor Professor Dr Md Showkat Ali today expressed deep grief and sorrow over the death of Sharif Osman Hadi, spokesperson of the Inqilab Manch and brave fighter of the July Mass Uprising.
In a condolence message, the VC said that Shaheed Sharif Osman Hadi was a brave, patriotic and uncompromising socio-cultural-political activist.
Shaheed Hadi has struggled as a fearless voice against injustice, injustice and exploitation throughout his life.
After the July Uprising, as the spokesperson of the Inqilab Mancha, he played an important role in protecting the just rights of the July fighters, upholding democratic values and protecting national interests.
His thoughts, statements and stance have further strengthened the struggle for establishing justice in society.
The VC added that Osman Hadi was an idealistic and determined young man who never compromised on his beliefs and principles.
His voice against the hegemonic forces and all kinds of injustice and irregularities was clear, courageous and uncompromising.
"His brutal death in a terrorist attack is in no way acceptable. This is not just a loss of life, but an attempt to silence a courageous voice standing for justice and truth," he said.
The VC strongly condemned and protested the murder and said that those who killed Osman Hadi must be identified and arrested quickly and brought to justice and exemplary punishment must be ensured.
BRUR VC recalled that Osman Hadi's participation in the closing ceremony of the Shaheed Abu Sayeed Book Fair organized for the first time at Begum Rokeya University last February was very significant.
"His thoughtful speech and presence had a profound impact on all those present, including teachers and students, which the university family still remembers with respect," he said.
He said that Osman Hadi's ideals, courage and life of struggle will inspire future generations to remain steadfast on the path of justice, truth and democracy.
The VC prayed for the forgiveness of the departed soul and expressed deep condolences to his bereaved family, fellow July warriors and well-wishers.
Osman Hadi passed away at 9:45 pm Bangladesh time on Thursday while undergoing treatment in Singapore after being shot in the capital Dhaka a week ago.
