KHULNA, Dec 13, 2025 (BSS) - Khulna University (KU) and Khulna University of Engineering and Technology (KUET) have taken elaborate programmes to observe the Martyred Intellectuals Day on December 14 and celebrate the Great Victory Day on December 16 with due respect.
At KU, the Martyred Intellectuals Day will be observed with the wearing of black badges, hoisting of the national flag at half-mast alongside a black flag in front of the administrative building. A procession will then march to the Shaheed Minar to place floral tributes.
A discussion meeting will be held at the Journalist Liakat Ali Auditorium. Special prayers will be offered after Zuhr at the university central mosque, while prayers will also be held at the university temple.
On the occasion of the Great Victory Day, the national flag will be hoisted in front of the administrative building. A colourful procession will proceed to the Shaheed Minar to pay tributes. A cultural programme and film screening will be held at the open stage.
To mark the day, the main gate, roads, buildings, halls and other installations on the campus will be illuminated with decorative lights.
Meanwhile, KUET has also drawn up detailed programmes to observe the Martyred Intellectuals Day and the Great Victory Day.
On December 14, the national flag will be hoisted at half-mast and black flags will be raised at sunrise at the administrative building, the Vice-Chancellor's residence and student residential halls in accordance with the National Flag Rules, 1972.
A discussion meeting will be held at the university auditorium with the participation of teachers, students, officers and employees. Special prayers will be offered after Asr at the central Jame mosque.
On December 16, the national flag will be hoisted at sunrise at the administrative building, the Vice-Chancellor's residence and student halls.
A drawing competition for the children of teachers, officers and employees will be held at the auditorium, followed by prize distribution. Floral tributes will be paid at the base of the Liberation War sculpture "Durbar Bangla," and a discussion meeting will be held at the auditorium.
A friendly football match between teachers and students will take place in the afternoon at the central playground, followed by special prayers after Asr at the central mosque.
KUET Vice-Chancellor Professor Dr Md Maksud Helali will attend the programmes as the chief guest, while deans of different faculties will be present as special guests. Director (Student Welfare) Professor Dr B M Ikramul Haque will preside over the programmes.
Separately, the Metropolitan Journalists Union (MUJ), Khulna, has also announced programmes to observe the Martyred Intellectuals Day and the Great Victory Day.
On Martyred Intellectuals Day, MUJ Khulna will place wreaths at the Gallamari Memorial at 12:01 am on the night of December 13, followed by a discussion meeting at the union office on December 14.
For the Great Victory Day, wreaths will be placed at the Gallamari Memorial at 12:01 am on the night of December 15. Another discussion meeting will be held at the union office on the morning of December 16.
