EC to issue around 20 circulars after announcement of polls schedule

DHAKA, Dec 10, 2025 (BSS) - Chief Election Commissioner (CEC) AMM Nasir Uddin will announce the schedule of the 13th national election and the referendum at 6 pm today.

Following the announcement, the Election Commission (EC) will issue around 20 circulars on various matters aimed at ensuring a smooth and fair election, Election Commissioner Abdur Rahmanel Masud confirmed it to BSS.

“The first circular will state that no government official or employee may be transferred without the Commission’s approval,” he added.

Other circulars will cover law and order management, appointment of judicial magistrates, the removal of posters and banners already put up, among other issues, he said.

He said, “The schedule will be announced this evening. People are eagerly waiting for the election. The public wants a festive election atmosphere. From the head of government down to all concerned—everyone wants a celebratory election.”

According to EC officials, a gazette notification regarding the election schedule will be issued immediately after the announcement. 

This will be followed by notifications appointing returning officers and assistant returning officers. After that, various committees will be formed, including the law and order coordination cell, vigilance observation teams, judicial inquiry committees, appointment of executive magistrates, and instructions on prohibiting transfers of government employees without EC approval.

Additionally, instructions will be issued to ensure adherence to the code of conduct for political parties and candidates, as well as an immediate notice for the removal of posters and banners.
