Dhaka, Nov 27, 2025 (BSS) - Education Adviser Prof Dr CR Abrar today assured the Dhaka Reporters Unity (DRU) that the government will always stand by the organization's scholarship and welfare activities.
“Supporting the journalistic community and their families is not only a humanitarian responsibility but also a moral obligation of the state,” he said.
The adviser made the remarks while speaking as the chief guest during an event at DRU in the city, said a press release.
The event was organized by the DRU to award educational scholarships to the children of deceased journalists and honour meritorious students.
Abrar extended sincere gratitude and appreciation to the DRU and the collaborating institution, NRBC Bank, for undertaking this important duty.
He acknowledged that the country is not always capable of fulfilling all expected duties to the desired extent.
He noted that in these circumstances, civil society and institutions such as the DRU play an extremely important role.
He also commented on the difficult work life of reporters, noting the great sorrow experienced when they cannot spend sufficient time with their families, especially their children, due to busy schedules.
He praised the sympathy and accountability shown by the organization and colleagues in helping to fill that void.
