COX'S BAZAR, Dec 28, 2023 (BSS) - Four people were killed and five others injured in a head-on collision between a picnic bus and a laguna on the Cox's Bazar-Chattogram highway in Kalabagan area under Chakaria upazila of the district today.

The deceased were identified as Md. Mohiuddin, Abu Bakr, Zainal and Ridwan Majhi - all residents of Samajik Para in Harbang Union of Chakaria Upazila - and Riduan Majhi, resident of Harmuhuri para of the same upazila.

The accident occurred when a Cox's Bazar-bound picnic bus collided head-on with a Lohagara-bound passenger Laguna in the area at around 7am this morning, leaving four passengers of the Laguna dead on the spot and five others injured , officer-in-charge (OC) Chiringa Highway Police Station Mahbubul Haque Bhuiyan said.

The injured were taken to different hospitals in Lohagara, he said.

Police seized the bus and Laguna.

Police recovered the dead bodies from the spot, he added.
