Mamota project ensures 2657 normal delivery in Gaibandha

GAIBANDHA, Dec 23, 2023 (BSS) - Promotion of Maternal and Newborn Health (Mamota) project has ensured normal delivery of 2657 pregnant mothers along with providing ante natal care (ANC) and post natal care (PNC) in the district in two years and seven months.

"The Mamota project has ensured normal delivery of 2657 pregnant mothers till November 30, 2023 from its inception in May, 2021," Project Coordinator Baharam Khan told newsmen while sharing the project progress at its district office here on Thursday.
 
With the financial support of Korean International Cooperation Agency (KOICA) and in cooperation with Save the Children the project is being implemented at 11 unions of four upazilas in the district in partnership with SKS Foundation, he said.

Directorate general of health services and directorate general of family planning are providing direct supervision to the project with the help of local government bodies.

Khan said the main objective of the project is to ensure safe normal delivery discouraging home delivery.

In the power point presentation, Khan said the management of normal delivery is kept for 24 hours at union health and family welfare centers established by the government under the project.

Additional staffer as midwives, aya and night guards have also been recruited to help conduct safe delivery, he said.

The project staff and the government staff are jointly providing services to help the pregnant mothers.
