DHAKA, Dec 17, 2023 (BSS) - Bangladesh United Islami Party (BUIP) chairman Maulana Md Ismail Hossain today alleged that the Charmonai Peer is misusing holy Islam for their political and personal interests in the name of Islami Andolan.

"Keeping mum on killings of thousands of Muslims in Gaza in one hand and demanding resignation of elected government on the other is a proof of their (Charmonai peers) hypocrisy," he told a press conference at Jatiya Press Club.

BUIP leaders Maulana Shah Mohammad Omar Faruk, Maulana Mohiuddin Faruki, Dr Mosharraf Hossain were present.

"We are noticing with grave sorrow that Charmonai peers in the name of Islami Andolan and some leaders in the name of Hefazat-e-Islam are misusing holy Islam for their political and personal interests. For that, they have created a 'Syndicate Islam' by their own way," Ismail said.

"It means if anything goes in favor of the syndicate, it will be Islam and if not, it won't be Islam. They don't protest killings of thousands of Muslims including women and children in Palestine for achieving unconstitutional political interests. It should be kept in mind that traders of religion are not only enemy of Islam but also of the country and humanity," he said.

Ismail said they have asked the Charmonai peer that he should choose one way. Either he should carry on the activity of peer or do politics, he said adding that but doing politics by using people's religious sentiment in the name of doing peer's activity won't be allowed.

He questioned from where Charmonai peer gets the huge amount of money to have a expensive BMW vehicle and police protection. "The nation wants to know how Chamonai peer gets police protection," he said.

Ismail alleged that they have information that Charmonai peer is collecting money from abroad through illegal hundi system. He sought Anti-Corruption Commission's investigation to this end.

About Hefazat-e-Islam, the BUIP chairman said different media revealed the tragic scenes how Hefazat's founding Amir Allama Shafi was tortured inhumanly in a room of Hathazari Madrasah and how his oxygen mask was taken off with an attempt to kill him.

Shafi's family also mentioned these in the case they lodged as well as his disciples also protested it, he mentioned.

Ismail demanded bringing those involved with the killing plot and grasping the madrasah afterwards.

"The nation thinks some Hefazat leaders and Charmonai peer want to destroy the country's peace at the instigation of anti-state racket ahead of the elections. That's why suddenly they announced a grand rally on December 29 with a demand of controversial Mamunul Haque after remaining silent till date" he alleged.

When their hypocrisy has been exposed to the nation, they have resorted to issue false statement to conceal their misdeeds using religious sentiment, he said.

He urged all his Muslim brothers and sisters to remain alert against these hypocrites and traders of religion.
