Pakistanis killed intellectuals to make Bengalis talentless: speakers

DHAKA, Dec 13, 2023 (BSS) - Speakers today demanded unmasking the behind-the scene people who killed journalists and intellectuals during the Liberation War in 1971.

They said the Pakistani occupation forces killed journalists and intellectuals in 1971 to make the Bengali nation talentless.

They told a discussion on the Martyred Intellectuals Day and the great Victory Day organized by National Press Club at its Jahur Hossain Chowdhury auditorium.

President of Jatiya Press Club Farida Yasmin presided over the discussion and Press Club seminar sub-committee convener journalist Julhas Alam conducted it. Mofidul Haque, trustee of Bangladesh Muktijudda Jadughar, spoke as the chief speaker while former information adviser of Prime Minister Iqbal Sobhan Chowdhury, former president of Bangladesh Faderal Union of Journalist (BFUJ) Manjurul Ahsan Bulbul, BFUJ present president Omar Faruque, Jatiya Press Club former president Saiful Alam, Press Club Joint Secretary Ayub Bhuiyan also took part in the discussion and Press Club Joint Secretary Md. Ashraf Ali, Managing commit members Kazi Rownok Hossain, Shahnaj Siddiqui Soma and Shahnaj Begum Poli, were present, among others.
 
The discussants also said the country is moving forward at an indomitable speed under the leadership of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina for establishing the 'Sonar Bangla' of Bangabandhu's dream.

Mofidul Haque said all the journalists, including Saber, Shahidullah Kaisar and Serajuddin Hossain, had contribution to all the democratic movements and Liberation War.

Farida Yasmin urged all to be united under the leadership of AL President and Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina.
"Anti-Liberation forces are hatching conspiracy against the country and its people. So, we will remain alert against any kind of conspiracy," she added.
