Bangladesh to introduce e-visa soon : Asaduzzaman

NATORE, Nov 9, 2023 (BSS) - Home Minister Asaduzzaman Khan Kamal today said electronic visa or e-visa will be introduced soon.

"E-visa will be launched very soon and the existing area of e-passport is expanding," he said, addressing a newly constructed regional passport office in Natore.

The country is moving forward on the path of Smart Bangladesh, he said, adding: "We are the first to launch e-passport in Southwest Asia."

"Already 1.16 crore e-passports have been delivered. Speedy delivery of these passports has boosted public-services up," the minister added.

With Director General of Department of Immigration and Passports (Dhaka) Md Nurul Anwar in the chair, the inaugural programme was addressed, among others, by Natore-2 Constituency Lawmaker Shafiqul Islam Shimul, Narayanganj-4 constituency Lawmaker Shamim Osman and Secretary of the Security Services Division of the Ministry of Home Affairs Md Abdullah Al Masud Chowdhury as special guests.

Member of Parliament (MP) of Natore-1 Shahidul Islam Bakul, Natore-4 constituency MP Siddiqur Rahman Patwari, Additional DIG of Police (Rajshahi Range) Anisur Rahman, Deputy Commissioner of Natore Abu Nacher Bhuyan and Superintendent of Police Md Tariqul Islam were also present there, among others.

Earlier, the home minister inaugurated the Mujib corner at the office of Superintendent of Police.
