DHAKA, July 31, 2023 - (BSS) - Chief Election Commissioner (CEC) Kazi Habibul Awal today paid a courtesy call on Chief Justice Hasan Foez Siddique at the latter's office this afternoon.
 
"It was just a courtesy call from 1:30 pm to 2:00 pm, nothing else," the CEC told reporters while leaving the Chief Justice's Supreme Court office. 
 
The CEC said apart from taking oath from the chief justice, he and an election commissioner had worked in the judiciary for a long time.
 
The chief justice will go into retirement in September, the CEC said, adding, "We don't know whether we will be able to meet him again or not. That's why we met him to express gratitude."
 
Election Commissioner Begum Rashida Sultana, Secretary of the Election Commission Secretariat Md Jahangir Alam and Joint Secretary (Law) Mahbubar Rahman Sarker were present at the meeting. 
 
The Chief Justice is scheduled to retire on September 25, 2023.
