SAVAR, July 27, 2023 (BSS)- A national level training workshop titled ‘Inclusive Education, Diverse Asia Toolkit and Accessible Reading Materials’ was held today at Jahangirnagar University (JU) campus. 

Institute of Information Technology (IIT) of JU and P5 jointly organised the workshop at the Senate Hall of the university here this morning. JU Vice Chancellor Prof Md Nurul Alam inaugurated the workshop as chief guest.

Later, the trainers imparted training on the equipment in higher education institutions for students with special needs and equal opportunities for normal students. Bhaskar Bhattacharjee, inventor of multimedia talking books, provided the manual for using technologies for visually impaired students.

Mufti Mahmud and David J. Brown, Professors at United Kingdom’s Nottingham Trent University discussed on assistive technology for the inclusive education.

Besides, Karel Van Isacker, Phoenix KM BVBA of Belgium spoke about the ideas on implementing accessible reading materials and the Divers-Asia Toolkit.

Conducted by IIT Director Prof Shamim Kaiser, Pro vice chancellors, Treasurer, and IQAC Director of the university, were present, among others.
