DHAKA, July 26, 2023 (BSS) - Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina today gave a grant of Taka 7,56,30,000 more from her Relief and Welfare Fund to the National Institute of Cardiovascular Diseases (NICVD) to facilitate free treatment of the helpless and insolvent patients of heart ailments.

PM's Principal Secretary Md Tofazzel Hossain Miah handed over a cheque for the amount to NICVD Director Prof Mir Jamal Uddin for the institute's "Helpless Patient Service Fund."

With this latest amount, the Prime Minister has so far given over Tk 14.56 crore to the fund as she earlier gave Taka 7 crore in two installments in 2022, said an official release of Prime Minister's Press Wing.

From the fund, the hospital provides all kinds of medicare services free of costs to the poor patients with heart diseases that include installing stents, pacemakers and valves.

The institute also provides PDA Device Closure and ASD and VSD treatments to pediatric heart patients with the fund.
