DHAKA, July 9, 2023 (BSS)-Secretary, Maritime Affairs Unit of the Foreign Ministry Rear Admiral Md. Khurshed Alam (Retd.) has been unanimously elected as the Chair of the Finance Committee of the International Seabed Authority (ISA). 

This is for the first time since the establishment of ISA in 1994, Bangladesh has become Chair of this committee, a foreign ministry press release said here today.   
 
Canada's Kenneth Wong was elected as Vice Chairperson of the ISA. 
 
The decision was taken in the ISA Finance Committee Meeting held on July 5 to 7 at the ISA Headquarters in Kingston, Jamaica.
