DHAKA, April 16, 2023 (BSS)-The Detective Branch (DB) of the Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) has arrested seven dacoits from Rampura area while they were taking preparation for committing robbery using fake identities of DB and the elite force RAB.

The arrested people were identified as Md Jalal Uddin alias Captain Jalal, Md Badal Hossain Sheikh alias Badal Majhi, Syed Monir Al Mahmud, Md Khokon, Shahdat Hossain, Md Babul Miah and Md Mahidul Islam Sheikh. 

The plain clothed police recovered a toy pistol, seven jackets inscribed with RAB logo, a jacket with DB logo, one pair of handcuffs, two walkie-talkies, two batons, a bag with police sticker, a microbus, nine mobile phone sets and Tk 2,400 from their possessions.

Additional Commissioner and chief of the DB Mohammad Harun or Rashid gave the details about the robbers and their preparations at a press briefing at his office here today.

He said Khilgaon zonal team of the DB Motijheel Division arrested them from Rampura area on Saturday. 

“The arrested dacoits first took information about various people from different banks, financial institutions, markets etc in Motijheel area and made them targets who used to carry large amount of cash money,” Harun said.

The arrested persons were produced before the court in connection with a case filed with Rampura police station.
