We are trying to hear all the parties on DSA: Anisul

DHAKA, March 14, 2023 (BSS) - Law, Justice and Parliamentary Affairs Minister Anisul Huq today said the government has formulated Digital Security Act (DSA) to combat cyber crimes and is trying to hear all the parties regarding the law.
 
"We would again sit with the members of civil society on March 30 and continue the discussion. I hope that the matter would come to an end on that day," he said after coming out of a meeting with civil society members at the ministry this afternoon.
 
The law minister and state minister for ICT Division Zunaid Ahmed Palak today heard proposals of the civil society members about the much talked about act and their logic behind those proposals at the meeting.
 
"...but we could not talk about the steps taken already to get rid of the problems as all the time went on hearing them out," the law minister added.
 
TIB executive director Dr Iftekharuzzaman, who was present at the meeting as a member of civil society, said they pointed out their matter of concerns about the act.
 
While replying to a question on the proposed Data Protection Act, Dr Iftekharuzzaman said they would sit again to discuss the new draft of the proposed act on April 6.
 
Apart from Dr Iftekharuzzaman, Dhaka University International Relations Prof Dr CR Abrar, Supreme Court lawyer Barrister Jyotirmoy Barua, academic activist Rezaur Rahman Lenin, rights activist Md Saimum Reza Talukder, Sharmin Khan, former director of National Data Center Tarique M Barkatullah, Start-Up Bangladesh Company Limited Managing Director Md Sami Ahmed, A2I Policy Adviser Anir Chowdhury, Edge Project consultant Md Abdul Bari and BGD E-Gov Cirt senior technical specialist Tawhidur Rahman, were present at the meeting, among others.
 
The civil society members pointed out their matter of concern, suggestions and demands to the ministers at the meeting about the act.
