'Smart citizens crucial for building Smart Bangladesh'

RANGPUR, March 9, 2023 (BSS) - Ensuring quality education for young
generations is crucial to produce smart citizens with good human and social
values and ethics for building a Smart Bangladesh as envisioned by Prime
Minister Sheikh Hasina.

High officials, public representatives and civil society members today
expressed the opinion in a views-exchange meeting titled 'Our Role in
Building a Smart Bangladesh' held at the conference room of the Deputy
Commissioner in the city.
 
The district administration and District Information Office jointly organised
the event participated by officials of government departments, organisations
and institutions, public representatives, civil society members, politicians,
teachers and students.
 
Deputy Commissioner Dr Chitralekha Nazneen attended the meeting as the chief
guest with Additional Deputy Commissioner (Revenue) Md Rezaul Karim in the
chair.
 
Superintendent of Police Md Ferdous Ali Chowdhury and Deputy Director (Local
Government) Zilufa Sultana spoke as special guests.

Senior District Information Officer Md. Atikur Rahman Shah delivered a
welcome speech narrating the goals and objectives of the event and different
aspects of the vision Smart Bangladesh.

A documentary film styled 'Unnoyoner Agrojatray Adomya Bangladesh' focusing
on massive developments of the country was screened on the occasion.

Assistant Commissioner and Executive Magistrate Farhan Labib Jisan delivered
the keynote presentation titled 'Smart Bangladesh' and discussed its four
pillars of Smart Citizen, Smart Society, Smart Economy and Smart Government.

Cultural personality Dr Mofizul Islam Maantu, President of Press Club,
Rangpur Mahabub Rahman Habu, In-charge of BSS Rangpur regional office Senior
Reporter Md. Mamun Islam, union parishad chairmen and other participants took
part in the open discussion and forwarded various suggestions for building a
Smart Bangladesh well ahead of building a developed Bangladesh by 2041.
 
The speakers said the Digital Bangladesh envisioned by Prime Minister Sheikh
Hasina has already been implemented benefiting every citizen and time has
come to build a Smart Bangladesh under her able and farsighted leadership.
 
They called upon the teachers to build the young students as smart mentally
and ethically and infuse patriotism in them as they will be the key-players
for building and leading a Smart Bangladesh.
 
They called for ensuring proper utilization of computers and multimedia
projectors provided by the government to the 'Sheikh Russel Digital Labs',
primary, secondary and higher secondary educational institutions free of
cost.

The Superintendent of Police said building of a Smart Bangladesh could be
started with a time-befitting education system to ensure proper education to
young generations for producing smart citizens and skilled human resources.
 
The Deputy Commissioner said producing smart citizens with proper education,
social and ethical values is a prerequisite to put into practice the other
three pillars of Smart Society, Smart Economy and Smart Government for
building a Smart Bangladesh.
 
"We have to work from our own places with utmost sincerity, dedication and
integrity to achieve the goal," she said and urged everyone for forward
suggestions on innovative ideas for building a Smart Rangpur District on the
way to building a Smart Bangladesh.
