Children must put efforts to fulfill their dreams: Hasan

DHAKA, Feb 20, 2023 (BSS)- Information and Broadcasting Minister and Awami League Joint General Secretary Dr Hasan Mahmud today stressed the need for constant efforts of children to fulfill their dreams.

"Every child should have a dream, so constant efforts are needed to fulfill their dreams. Teachers and guardians should focus on this issue. I would like to urge children and teenagers to dream and put in constant efforts to materialize their dreams. The persons, who possess no vision, do not have any desire to fulfill dreams," he said.

The minister said these while addressing the 35th founding anniversary of Sheikh Russel Jatiyo Shishu Kishore Parishad at Awami League (AL) office in the city's Bangabandhu Avenue.

Former lawmaker Shahidul Islam, advisors of the Parishad - Sirajul Islam Molla and Farzana Sahad Chowdhury, among others, addressed the function with its secretary general KM Shahid Ullah in the chair.

Advising children to have patience, Hasan said if everyone works with devotion, success will definitely come. Bill Gates became a world-class genius despite failing in university examinations, Ambedkar, who belonged to a low-caste community, became the Law and Justice Minister of India and APJ Abdul Kalam, a son of a poor family, became the President of India, he said.

He said the Sheikh Russel Jatiyo Shishu Kishore Parishad, since its inception, has been playing a pivotal role in organizing the children as well as teenagers for flourishing their talent.

"Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina always monitors the activities of the organisation with keen interest . . . She is empathetic towards the children as they are the future of the nation," he added.

He said, "We can build the future of the nation if we make a congenial atmosphere to flourish their talent properly. Children, associated with the organisation, are advancing ahead of others as the Parishad is playing an important role in bringing out the best from them."

The minister went on saying Sheikh Russel was killed when he was only 10 years old. Russel had human qualities similar to his father Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman, he added.

He said Sheikh Russel could have led Bangladesh if he was alive. "But Sheikh Russel was killed brutally on the fateful night of August 15, 1975, when the killers killed Bangabandhu along with most of his family members," added Hasan.

The minister prayed for the eternal peace of the departed souls of Sheikh Russel and his family members.

After the programme, he cut a cake marking the founding anniversary of the parishad.
