BGB seizes smuggled goods, drugs worth Tk 1565.54cr in 2022

DHAKA, Jan 10, 2023 (BSS) - Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) has seized smuggled goods, arms, ammunition and drugs worth about Taka 1565.54 crore in deferent drives across the country in 2022.

The seized drugs included -1,27,78,100 contraband yaba tablets, 77kg 690 gram crystal meth, 3,16,175 bottles of phensidyl, 1,82,932 bottles of foreign liquor, 4,064 liters of bangle liquor, 37,126 cans of beer, 28,672-kg hemp, 72Kg 159 gram heroin, 4,98,754 ampoule injections, 6,55,940 pieces of Anegra/senegra tablets, 76,561 bottles of Eskayef syrups, 13kg 425 gram afim,84,55,562 pieces of medicines, 13,562 bottles of coffedil, 28,10,063 other drugs, said a BGB press release.

Other smuggled items included 194kg 993 gram gold, 279kg 162 gram silver, 1,57,309 sarees, 59,939 three-pieces, 21,068 readymade garments, 4,141 matter than cloth, 21,55,094 cosmetics, 30,695 cubic feet wood, 73,176 kg tea, 6,21,013 kg coal, 35,223 cubic foot stone, 1,25,750 imitation jewelries, 31 'Koshti Pather' touchstone, 1,699 current net, 152 kg 500 gram turtle bones, 73 trucks, covered-van,44 private care, 106 pick-up, 340 CNG/ easy bike and 824 motorcycle. 46 pistols, 9 Rifles,5 revolvers, 79 guns, 5,345 round bullet, 25 magazine, 24 mortal sel, one bomb, 20 coktal, 45 glass, 51 shell, 999,600kgexplosive.

Besides, legal actions were taken against 2,953 people smugglers during this period. Some 2,085 Bangladeshis and 117 Indian nationals were arrested for crossing the border illegally during this time.

The BGB seized smuggled goods and drugs worth Taka 1,073 crore in 2021.
