Momen pays tribute to Abe signing condolence book

DHAKA, July 12, 2022 (BSS) - Foreign Minister AK Abdul Momen today paid
profound tribute to assassinated former Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe by
signing the condolence book at the Japanese Embassy here.

"We are deeply shocked," Momen told the media after signing the condolence
book recalling Abe's significant role in developing comprehensive relations
between Dhaka and Tokyo.

Recalling Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina's visit to Japan and a return visit
by Abe in Dhaka, the Foreign Minister said under Abe's leadership Japan came
forward in implementing mega projects in Bangladesh.

"We have developed a very warm relationship (with Shinzo Abe)," he said.

On Saturday, Bangladesh observed state mourning showing deep respect to its
true friend and Japan's longest-serving prime minister, who was shot dead on
Friday while delivering a speech at a rally.

People of Japan sincerely appreciate the deepest condolence expressed by the
government and people of Bangladesh, said the Japanese Embassy in Dhaka.
