DHAKA, Feb 14, 2022 (BSS) - The Search Committee received a total of

322 proposed names for the formation of next Election Commission.

  The list was published in the website of the Cabinet Division tonight.

  Different political parties, professional bodies, eminent persons
and individuals proposed the names.

  Educationist Prof Muhammad Zafar Iqbal, Dhaka University former

Vice-Chancellor and Chairman of the board of directors of Bangladesh
Sangbad Sangstha (BSS) Professor Dr AAMS Arefin Siddique, Journalist
Ajay Dasgupta, Advocate Sultana Kamal, World University
Vice-Chancellor Prof Abdul Mannan Chowdhury, former chief information
commissioner Prof Golam Rahman, National University former VC Prof
Harun-or-Rashid, former adviser Dr Mufia Rahman, educationist Prof
Syed Manjoorul Islam are among the 322 names.

    On February 5, a six-member search committee was formed under the
"Appointments of the Chief Election Commissioner and other Election
Commissioners Act-2022".

    The committee will have to propose 10 names to the President for
formation of the next EC.

    The search committee will hold a meeting with eight senior journalists
on Tuesday.
