Rain plays spoilsport in BPL matches

DHAKA, Feb 4, 2022 (BSS)—The persistent drizzle forced the abandonment of the two matches of Bangladesh Premier League (BPL) today without a ball being bowled at Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium.

The first was supposed to be held between Fortune Barishal and Sylhet Sunrisers while Comilla Victorians was slated to play against Minister Group Dhaka.

The teams however shared the points. After the abandonment, Comilla moved to the top spot of BPL, securing nine points from six matches. Barishal also have nine points from seven matches but they are behind net-run-rate. Minister Group Dhaka are in the third spot with seven points from seven matches.

Considering Sylhet’s bad form, it was a disappointing outcome for Barishal, who have been in great touch in this edition of BPL.

Sylhet however continued to languish at the bottom table with three points from six matches.

The next phase of BPL will be held in Sylhet where six matches will be held within three days. Teams like Chattogram Challengers and Khulna Tigers, who had no game today, had already reached Sylhet.

Dhaka, Barishal, Sylhet and Comilla will travel to Sylhet tomorrow. The Sylhet phase will start on February 7. All of the matches will be held in the Sylhet International Cricket Stadium.
