DHAKA, Jan 26, 2026 (BSS) - A massive campaign is set to begin in the country's universities to promote 'Yes' vote in the upcoming referendum.
The decision was taken in a meeting of the University Grants Commission (UGC) delegation with Chief Adviser's Special Assistant Professor Ali Riaz in the Sangsad Bhaban area on Sunday evening.
As per the decision, public universities have been divided into six zones - Dhaka, Chattogram, Rajshahi, Jashore, Mymensingh and Sylhet - for the convenience of the campaign.
The campaign will commence by exchanging views with students.
The meetings will be held with students from Dhaka and Mymensingh zones on January 31, while Chattogram and Sylhet zones on February 2 and Rajshahi and Jashore zones on February 3.
Speaking at the meeting, Prof Ali Riaz said the youths have brought down the tyranny that has been hanging over the nation for a long time, and their collective gathering will begin the path of a new Bangladesh.
The opportunity has come after 54 years to build a democratic, humane and just society and the role of the youth is essential to establish it, he said.
The views-exchange meetings will be held so that the youths of the country can motivate the citizens to vote for 'Yes' in the upcoming referendum.
Chief Adviser's Special Assistant Monir Haider, and UGC members Professor Mohammad Tanzimuddin Khan and Professor Dr Mohammad Anwar Hossen were present at the meeting.
