DHAKA, Jan 20, 2026 (BSS) - The Rural Electrification Board (REB) will launch extensive campaigns to encourage the people of the country to ensure the victory of 'Yes' vote in the upcoming national election and referendum.
This was decided at a meeting held at the office of the Chief Adviser at Jamuna here today, said a press release.
The meeting was attended by the Chief Adviser's Special Assistant Professor Ali Riaz and Adviser for Power, Energy and Mineral Resources Muhammad Fouzul Kabir Khan.
At the meeting, Professor Ali Riaz said, "The people of this country have written with letters of blood that they do not want to return to fascist rule."
He further said that the people want a democratic and humane Bangladesh where a justice-based society will be established and to achieve this, everyone must be motivated for 'Yes' vote.
Chief Adviser's Special Assistant Monir Haider, Power Division Secretary Farzana Momtaz and REB Chairman Major General SM Zia-ul-Azim, were also present at the meeting.
In addition, 417 General Managers and Deputy General Managers from the REB's field level joined the meeting virtually via a Zoom platform.
The press release also said that it was decided at the meeting that, as part of the campaign in favor of the 'Yes' vote, leaflets titled "The key to the country is in your hands" will be delivered to the REB's 37.2 million customers by February 7. While distributing the leaflets, customers will also be informed of the rationale for voting 'Yes'.
Regional meetings will be held with 1.8 million prepaid customers and microphone announcements will be conducted in remote rural areas to explain why people should vote for 'Yes'. In addition, campaigns encouraging a 'Yes' vote will be carried out on the Facebook pages of the country's 80 cooperatives of the REB.
Drop-down banners will also be displayed at the REB buildings across the country.
