DHAKA, Jan 22, 2026 (BSS)- Law ministry today issued separate gazette notifications on the Barisal Development Authority (Amendment) Ordinance 2026 and Mymensingh Development Authority (Amendment) Ordinance 2026.
The ordinances recently approved by the cabinet will come into effect immediately, the gazette notification said.
As per the ordinances any employee of the Barisal Development Authority (BDA) and Mymensingh Development Authority (MDA) will automatically retire on completion of the age of 59 years.
However, a freedom fighter employee shall automatically retire on completion of the age of 60 years.
After completion of the service period of 25 years, an employee may retire at any time by expressing his intention to retire, provided that such intention shall be submitted in written to the authority at least 30 days prior to the date of his or her voluntary retirement.
This intention of the employee shall be deemed to be final and will not be subject to amendment or withdrawal.
After completion of 25 years in service an employee, the authorities, it deems it necessary, may sent an employee to retirement with government’s prior approval without mentioning any reason.
The ordinance also said the government, in public interest, may place the services of the development authorities under the Ministry of Housing and Public Works for transfer and postings
