DHAKA, Jan 15, 2026 (BSS) - Adviser to the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting Syeda Rizwana Hasan today said that the country must establish a functional financial system free from political influence and corruption to ensure rational and accountable public expenditure.
She made the remarks while attending the 25th ICMAB Convocation 2026 as the chief guest at the Pan Pacific Sonargaon Hotel in the capital.
Rizwana, also the Adviser to the ministries of Environment, Forests and Climate Change, and Water Resources, said the objective of audit reports is to provide recommendations for improving account management and overall financial management, adding that they are intended to strengthen the financial system, ensure proper use of public funds, and reduce the scope for corruption.
Jean Bouquot, President of the International Federation of Accountants, spoke as the convocation speaker. ICMAB President Mahtab Uddin Ahmed chaired the function.
Past presidents, council members, associate and fellow members, and guests from the government and corporate sectors attended the event.
The Adviser also distributed certificates among the successful graduates. About 300 fellow and associate members received their certificates at the convocation.
