Bangladesh is role model of development in world: Abul Kalam Azad

BRAHMANBARIA, Aug 27, 2023 (BSS) - Managing Director (MD) and Chief Editor of Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha (BSS) Abul Kalam Azad has said that Pakistan is now on the brink of destruction whereas Bangladesh has emerged as a role model of development in the world.

"After the assassination of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman, the killer clique tried to govern Bangladesh in the style of Pakistan. But today Pakistan is on the brink of destruction but Bangladesh is a role model of development in the world," he said.

Azad, also the ex-president of Bangladesh Federal Union of Journalists (BFUJ), said this while addressing a discussion organized by Brahmanbaria Journalists Union at its office in the district town as the chief guest on Saturday marking the National Mourning Day.

Recalling the horrible and painful memories of August 15 carnage, the BSS chief editor mentioned that the scandalous chapter in the history of the Bangalee nation began with the murder of the Father of the Nation and most of his family members on August 15, 1975.

Noting that the assassination of Bangabandhu is impossible to be rectified or replenished as it was an irreparable loss in the history of the Bangalee nation, he said.

The killers had orchestrated the killing mission of Bangabandhu as part of their long-term heinous plan, he added.

Azad said that the cruel murderers also killed child Sheikh Russel, son of Bangabandhu, so that the vision of the Father of the Nation could not emerge as a source of strength for the nation in future.

Highlighting the gruesome grenade attack on a rally of the Awami League, apparently aimed at killing Awami League chief and incumbent Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina amid this month of August, he said the plan through which the Father of the Nation was killed such plans were also repeatedly devised to kill his daughter Sheikh Hasina.

With Brahmanbaria Journalist Union President Deepak Chowdhury Bappi in the chair, the discussion was also addressed, among others, by BFUJ President Omar Faruque as a special guest.

Omar Faruque called for letting the next generation know about the life and work of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman so that the youth could be the worthy citizens for the country's advancement.

The conspiracies have already started against the ongoing development spree in the country, he said, adding that the current government led by Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, the bearer of the spirit of War of Liberation, should be brought to power again.

"Only then, the dream of a developed Bangladesh will be materialized," he added.

BFUJ Treasurer Khairuzzaman Kamal and former General Secretary of Brahmanbaria Press Club Jabed Rahim Bijan also spoke while Brahmanbaria Journalist Union General Secretary Monir Hossain gave the welcome speech on the occasion.

Zila Sahitto Academy President and Poet Joydul Hossain, former Press Club President Md Arju, District Workers Party President Advocate Kazi Masud Ahmed and Rabindra Sangeet Sammelan Parishad President Prof Manavardhan Pal addressed the discussion, recalling the memories of Bangabandhu alongside paying glowing tributes to him.

Later, artistes of Titas Abritti Sangathon, including Fardia Ashrafi Naomi and Tahiya Tabassum Dihan, recited poems on Bangabandhu.
