Seven women elected MPs

DHAKA, Feb 13, 2026 (BSS) - Seven women candidates have been elected as Member of Parliament (MPs) in the 13th National Parliament Elections.

Of them, six are BNP-nominated candidates, while another contested as an independent candidate. 
The winning female candidates are Afroza Khan Rita in Manikganj-3 constituency, Ishrat Sultana Elen Bhutto in Jhalokati-2 constituency, Tahsina Rushdir Luna in Sylhet-2 constituency, Shama Obaid in Faridpur-2 constituency, Nayab Yusuf Kamal in Faridpur-3 constituency, Farzana Sharmin Putul in Natore-1 constituency and Barrister Rumin Farhana in Brahmanbaria-2 constituency.

Ishrat Sultana Elen Bhutto and Barrister Rumin Farhana have experience of serving as MPs. Ishrat Sultana Elen Bhutto was elected as a BNP nominee in 2001, while Barrister Rumin Farhana served as a lawmaker in the 11th parliament under the BNP's reserved quota.

The Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) is going to form the government for the fourth time after a long 20 years with an absolute majority in the 13th national parliament elections.
