NAOGAON, Feb 8, 2026 (BSS) - Election campaigning has reached a peak in Naogaon ahead of the 13th National Parliament elections, with candidates and political parties intensifying their activities across the district.

From early morning until midnight, campaign activities are underway in towns, and villages. Candidates are holding public rallies, street meetings, and courtyard gatherings, making various promises to voters as the election day draws closer.

While political analysts continue to speculate on likely winners, voters say their priority is peace, security, and visible development rather than mere election pledges.

Although several parties are participating in the polls, the main contest is expected to be between the two major parties symbolized by the Sheaf of paddy and Daripall. While no major clashes have been reported so far, candidates have accused each other of spreading misinformation and obstructing campaign activities.

Voters expressed hope that voting will be conducted peacefully this time. They emphasized the need for strong administrative measures to ensure security at polling centers so voters can cast their ballots without fear or disruption. Development of roads, employment opportunities, and improvements in education and healthcare remain key demands.

Dr. Ikramul Bari Tipu, the BNP candidate for Naogaon-4 (Manda), said voters remain hopeful due to his past experience as upazila chairman. He urged the administration to strengthen surveillance at risky polling centers, noting that a list of such centers has already been prepared.

Meanwhile, Khandaker Md. Abdur Rakib, the Daripalla candidate in the same constituency, said installing CCTV cameras alone would not be sufficient. “Administrative supervision must be increased at all centers. Security and development of educational institutions and roads are urgently needed in this neglected upazila,” he said.

In Naogaon-5 (Sadar) constituency, paddy sheaf candidate Zahidul Islam Dhalu said voters are enthusiastic about voting after a long gap. He pledged development of agricultural research institutes, cold storage facilities for fruits, gas connections, and improved road infrastructure if elected.

Daripalla candidate A.S.M. Sayem expressed confidence in his victory, stating that voters would be able to cast their ballots peacefully.

According to the District Election Office, a total of 32 candidates from various political parties are contesting in six constituencies of Naogaon district. There are 2,329,592 registered voters who will cast their votes at 782 polling centers.
