DHAKA, Aug 17, 2026 (BSS) - A court here today convicted drug peddler Md Rob Miah and sentenced him to life imprisonment and fined him Taka 10,000 in a 
case lodged over the seizure of 225 purias of heroin from his possession in 2016.

Judge Md Rohibul Islam of Dhaka Speedy Trial Tribunal-1 pronounced the judgment this afternoon, court official Samsuddin told BSS.

According to the case documents, acting on a tip-off, a team of Kafrul Police Station raided the Mirpur Kazipara overbridge area at around 11:15 pm on February 23, 2016. Police detained Md Rob Miah red-handed and seized 225 purias of heroin from his possession.

Police later filed the case under the Narcotics Control Act. A charge-sheet was filed on March 31, 2016, and the court framed charges against Rob on August 3, 2016.

Five of the total eight witnesses testified on different hearing dates in the case.
