DHAKA, Aug 13, 2026 (BSS) - A total of 1,563,566 people have benefited from legal assistance provided at government expense through the National Legal Aid Services Organization (Legal Aid).
According to a report published on the website of the National Legal Aid Services Organization, the figure covers detailed information on legal aid provided from 2009 through July 2026.
Of the services provided, 31,037 people received assistance through the Supreme Court Legal Aid Office, 1,289,364 through the legal aid offices in 64 districts, and 30,404 through the Labour Legal Aid Cells in Dhaka and Chattogram.
Another 212,520 people received legal aid through the government’s National Helpline Call Centre (toll-free: 16699), while 241 people received legal advice through the online platform (Facebook Messenger).
The services are provided at government expense under the Legal Aid Services Act with the aim of providing legal assistance to financially disadvantaged and unable-to-afford litigants in the country.
The National Legal Aid Services Organization operates under the Law and Justice Division of the Ministry of Law, Justice and Parliamentary Affairs.
