DHAKA, Aug 16, 2026 (BSS) - Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) arrested 511 people and filed 49 cases in its regular anti-crime drive across the capital over the past 24 hours.

During the operation, police recovered two foreign-made pistols, three magazines, 15 rounds of ammunition, 1,403 yaba tablets, 98.565kg of cannabis, one gram of heroin, four bottles of foreign liquor, a computer, six mobile phones, 80 SIM cards and seven bank ATM cards.

The arrests were made by DMP's nine divisions, with Mirpur recording the highest number at 126, followed by Tejgaon with 72, Uttara 67, Motijheel 62, Wari 51, Gulshan 50, Ramna 39, Lalbagh 33 and 11 arrested by DB.

Legal proceedings against the arrestees are underway.
