SANGSAD BHABAN, Sept 8, 2026 (BSS) - Five more parliamentary standing committees were constituted today taking the total number of committees formed, so far, in the 13th Jatiya Sangsad (JS) to 45.

The newly-constituted committees are the parliamentary standing committees on the Ministry of Social Welfare, Ministry of Expatriates' Welfare and Overseas Employment, Ministry of Railways, Ministry of Science and Technology, and Ministry of Health and Family Welfare.

Besides, two existing parliamentary committees-- on the Ministry of Water Resources and the Ministry of Civil Aviation and Tourism-- were reconstituted with changes to two members of the two bodies.

Chief Whip Md. Nurul Islam Moni proposed the formation of the five committees and the proposals were later passed by voice votes in the House.

The Parliamentary Standing Committee on the Ministry of Social Welfare will be headed by Md Shahajahan (Noakhali-4) while the Parliamentary Standing Committee on the Ministry of Expatriates' Welfare and Overseas Employment by AKM Fazlul Haque Milan (Gazipur-5) and the Parliamentary Standing Committee 
on the Ministry of Railways by Mohammad Ali Asghar (Khulna-5).

The Parliamentary Standing Committee on the Ministry of Science and Technology will be headed by M Ruhul Quddus Talukder Dulu (Natore-2) and the Parliamentary Standing Committee on the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare by SM Rafiqul Islam (Gazipur-3).

Two parliamentary committees were also reconstituted with changes to two members.

The two reconstituted bodies are the Parliamentary Standing Committee on the Ministry of Water Resources, headed by Mohammad Shofiqul Haque Milon (Rajshahi-3) and the Parliamentary Standing Committee on the Ministry of Civil Aviation and Tourism headed by Abul Kalam Azad Siddique (Tangail-7).

There are 50 parliamentary committees in the Jatiya Sangsad, including 39 standing committees on ministries and 11 subject-based committees.

Of the 50 parliamentary committees, 45 have, so far, been formed, including the five constituted today.
