RANGPUR, Sept 9, 2026 (BSS) - The Rangpur Range of Bangladesh Police filed 4,025 cases and realised Taka 1,27,96,425 in fines from the cases in August to ensure road discipline and enforce traffic laws in all eight districts of Rangpur division.

The information was disclosed at a monthly meeting held at the conference room of the Rangpur Range DIG's office in the city on Tuesday afternoon to review the overall law and order and crime situation.

In addition to filing the cases and collecting the fines, police seized 720 vehicles, including four buses, 19 trucks, four microbuses and 693 motorcycles, across the eight districts of Rangpur division under the Rangpur Range in August for various traffic law violations.

Rangpur Range DIG Mohammad Abdul Mabud presided over the meeting.

The monthly meeting included a detailed review of the crime situation, anti-drug operations, traffic law enforcement and the overall law and order situation, including public safety, across the division's eight districts.

Superintendents of Police from the eight districts and various other officials of the range were present at the meeting.

The DIG directed the police authorities of all eight districts of Rangpur division to intensify operations against those involved in the drug trade, including sources, suppliers and sellers, by identifying them.

The DIG instructed the Superintendents of Police of every district to take immediate legal action if information emerges regarding illegal stockpiling of fertilizer, creating artificial shortages, price manipulation or illicit buying and selling of fertilizer.

He also emphasized the need for field-level police personnel to play a more active and responsible role in crime control, anti-drug operations, traffic management and ensuring public safety.

Later, based on an evaluation of overall performance in August, the DIG presented a crest and a certificate of recognition to Thakurgaon District Superintendent of Police Md Belal Hossain, naming him the 'Best Superintendent of Police'.
