RAJSHAHI, Sept 9, 2026 (BSS) - A mobile court has sentenced a fertilizer dealer named Solaiman Patwary to one month of rigorous imprisonment for hoarding a huge quantity of fertilizer beyond the limit in Godagari upazila of the Rajshahi district.
200 sacks of MOP and 300 sacks of TSP fertilizer were recovered from his warehouse.
The raid was conducted on Tuesday around 9 pm at the establishment named Messrs Krishi Ghar in the Dyingpara area of Godagari Sadar.
The raid was led by the Upazila Nirbahi Officer (UNO) and Executive Magistrate of the mobile court, Israt Jahan.
The Upazila Agriculture Office said that Solaiman Patwary is a dealer of BCIC and BADC fertilizers.
He had been warned three times in the last two months regarding fertilizer storage and sale. Even after that, legal action was taken against him for hoarding a huge amount of fertilizer in his warehouse in violation of the rules.
Godagari UNO and Executive Magistrate of the mobile court, Israt Jahan, said warehouses and sales centers of dealers are being monitored to ensure fertilizer supply according to the demand of farmers.
It was found that Krishi Ghar had more fertilizer in stock than it was supposed to have. For this, the dealer has been sentenced to one month's imprisonment by the mobile court.
The UNO also said that strict legal action will be taken against anyone who illegally hoards fertilizer to create an artificial crisis or harass farmers.
