RMCCI holds meeting with ADB delegation on private sector investment

RANGPUR, Sept 8, 2026 (BSS) - A meeting was held between the Rangpur Metropolitan Chamber of Commerce and Industry (RMCCI) and an Asian 
Development Bank (ADB) delegation at Hotel North View conference room in the city on Tuesday afternoon.
 
RMCCI organized a meeting with the ADB delegation on the development of private sector investment potential, creation of a business-friendly 
environment and various problems and prospects of local entrepreneurs in the Rangpur region.
 
ADB's Private Sector Development Specialist (Consultant) Md Tahsin H Chowdhury and Private Sector Development Specialist (Associate Consultant) 
Abed Khan participated in the meeting. 
 
RMCCI's Senior Vice-president Md Nurul Islam (Patu), Directors Md Aslam, Sabbir Ahmed, Md Akhtaruzzaman Mondal, Md Abdur Razzak, President of Rangpur Women Chamber of Commerce and Industry Shahnaz Parveen Shahin, among others, spoke. Director of RMCCI Nazmul Alam Naju moderated the event.  

Speakers at the meeting discussed in detail the current situation of Rangpur's business and commerce, potential for industrialization, 
opportunities for entrepreneurs, obstacles to investment, and various aspects of further strengthening the private sector. 
 
They said that public-private partnerships are needed to advance Rangpur's business, trade and industrial sectors. 
 
In addition, they put emphasis on financing, technical assistance, creating skilled manpower and increasing market expansion opportunities for small and 
medium entrepreneurs. 
 
They termed the meeting as an important event for the ADB delegation to directly communicate with local businessmen and entrepreneurs. 
 
The meeting brought up various aspects of the reality and potential of the private sector in Rangpur, they said.
 
The ADB delegation members summarized the discussion and said that there is considerable potential for private sector development in the Rangpur region. 

If the capacity of local entrepreneurs is increased, an investment-friendly environment is created, infrastructure facilities are developed, and crucial 
support is ensured for businessmen, new industries and job opportunities can be created in the region. 
 
At the same time, they also opined that the practical experiences and problems of local businessmen and entrepreneurs need to be seriously considered at the policy-making level too.
