NARAIL, Aug 29, 2026 (BSS) – A two-day ‘Sultan Festival’ concluded this evening in the district under the arrangement of SM Sultan Shishu Charu O Charukala Foundation at Sultan Mancha premises of Narail Government Victoria College here.

The festival featured discussion, drawing competitions, cultural events and prize-giving ceremony.

Renowned artist S. M. Sultan was born on August 10, 1924, in Machimdia, Narail. He died on October 10, 1994, at the Combined Military Hospital in Jashore. Known as the “artist of soil and people,” Sultan was laid to eternal rest in the courtyard of his ancestral home in Machimdia-Kurigram, Narail town.

On the concluding day, five participants, including media worker Farhad Khan, were awarded prizes for their participation in the photography exhibition.

A total of 55 artworks were displayed at the photography exhibition.

The festival began on Friday morning as more than 200 children participated in a drawing competition. Their artwork depicted various subjects, including the national flag of Bangladesh, flowers and fruits, nature, rural life, portraits of Sultan, and boat races.

At the closing ceremony of the festival, Zila Parishad administrator Md. Mostafizur Rahman Alek attended the closing ceremony as the chief guest. 

Narail Government Victoria College Principal Professor Haider Ali Dewan, S. M. Sultan Shishu Charu O Charukala Foundation President Sheikh Hanif, Member Secretary Sasim Sarkar, among others, were present.
