KHULNA, Aug 29, 2026 (BSS) - Khulna city unit of BNP today announced a five-day programme to mark the party's 48th founding anniversary and formed three sub-committees to ensure its successful observance.

The programme was announced at a joint preparatory meeting held at the city BNP office at 11:30am.

As part of the programme, national and party flags will be hoisted at sunrise on September 1 at the city BNP office and all thana and ward offices, which will also be illuminated.

A colourful rally and a public gathering will be held at Zia Hall premises near Shibbari intersection at 3pm the same day.

Three sub-committees were formed to ensure orderly arrangements for the rally and gathering.

Advocate Shafiqul Alam Mona and Shafiqul Alam Tuhin were named convener and member-secretary of the Management Sub-Committee respectively.

KM Humayun Kabir and Engineer Nurul Islam Bachchu were appointed convener and member-secretary of the Decoration Sub-Committee, while Sheikh Sadi and Abdul Aziz Suman were named convener and member-secretary of the Discipline Sub-Committee.

City BNP President Advocate Shafiqul Alam Mona presided over the meeting, while General Secretary Shafiqul Alam Tuhin conducted it.

Leaders and activists of the party's 21 ward units and affiliated and associate organizations will join the gathering with separate banners and processions.

Education Minister A N M Ehsanul Haque Milon, MP, will attend the rally as chief guest, while BNP Central Executive Committee Information Affairs Secretary Azizul Bari Helal, MP, will be the chief speaker.

BNP MP and parliamentary whip Rakibul Islam Bakul, MPs Ali Asgar Lobi and Amir Ejaz Khan and Khulna City Corporation Administrator Nazrul Islam Manju will attend as special guests. BNP Central Executive Committee Joint Organising Secretary Jayanta Kumar Kundu will be a special speaker.
