KHULNA, Aug 29, 2026 (BSS) - Khulna Development Authority (KDA) Chairman and Khulna city BNP President Advocate SM Shafikul Alam Mona today said customs agents operating around Mongla Port play an important role in the country's import-export trade.

He made the remarks as chief guest at the oath-taking ceremony of the newly elected executive committee of the Mongla Customs Agents Association at its headquarters at C&F Tower on MA Bari Road in Sonadanga, Khulna city.

Mona expressed hope that the new committee would work for the welfare of its members, protect their business interests and make customs-related services more efficient.

"Through mutual cooperation, transparency and professional skill development, the Mongla Customs Agents Association can become a stronger and more effective organization," he said.

Association President Md Mosharraf Hossain presided over the programme, while General Secretary Mahamudun Chowdhury Jony and Senior Vice-President Md Javed Hossain jointly conducted it.

Khulna District BNP Acting Member Secretary and District Council Administrator SM Monirul Hasan Bappy, Khulna Metropolitan Police Additional Commissioner (Administration and Finance) Muhammad Shahnewaz Khaled, Benapole Customs Agents Association President Shamsur Rahman and former joint convener of Khulna city BNP Badrul Anam Khan attended as special guests.

Members of the election conducting committee and leaders of customs agents associations from different parts of the country were also present.
