JHENAIDAH, Aug 26, 2026 (BSS) - A woman was killed and her husband critically injured when a passenger bus hit their motorcycle on the bypass road in Bhutiyargati area of the town today.

The deceased was identified as Jannatul Ferdous Tuli, 27, wife of Sohel Kazi, army personnel from Lakhipasha village in Lohagara upazila of Narail district.

Quoting locals, Jhenaidah Fire Service official Liakat Biswas told BSS that the accident occurred when a Khulna-bound passenger bus of 'Garai Paribahan' hit the motorcycle, leaving Tuli, who was riding pillion, dead on the spot and her husband Sohel critically injured.

Locals rescued Sohel and took him to Jhenaidah Sadar Hospital in critical condition.

Officer-in-Charge of Jhenaidah Sadar Police Station Asaduzzaman confirmed the incident and said police seized the bus from the spot.
