CUMILLA, Aug 18, 2026 (BSS) - Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) today seized a large consignment of Indian smuggled goods worth approximately Taka 35.05 lakh in separate operations conducted in several areas along the Cumilla-Brahmanbaria border.
Lieutenant Colonel S M Shariful Islam, commander of Sultanpur Battalion (60 BGB), confirmed the matter in the afternoon.
According to BGB, the operations were conducted in Chandider, Madla and Khadla areas under Kasba upazila of Brahmanbaria, as well as in Saldanadi, Shashidal, Shankuchail and Kharera areas of Brahmanpara and Burichang upazilas in Cumilla.
The seized items included Indian Red Bull energy drinks, hair oil, olive oil, fuska, basmati rice, fireworks, sarees, cattle, suit fabrics, liquor, beer, Escof syrup and easy bikes, among other smuggled goods.
BGB estimated the total value of the seized goods at Taka 35,05,250.
Lieutenant Colonel Shariful Islam said regular operations and intelligence activities are being conducted to strengthen border security and prevent illegal entry, push-ins, trafficking of women and children, drug trafficking and smuggling.
