RANGPUR, Aug 17, 2026 (BSS) - Rangpur Metropolitan Police (RpMP) Commissioner Mohammad Abdul Mabud has said police member's speech, behavior, movement and performance during duty hours should reflect professionalism.
“To further strengthen the public's trust and respect for the police, police members must behave responsibly, humanely and professionally from their respective positions,” he said.
He made the observation while presiding over the monthly welfare meeting of RpMP held at Rangpur Metropolitan Police Lines Auditorium on Monday.
Various issues including welfare of police members, their honesty and dedication, discipline, people-friendly policing, health awareness, refraining from online gambling and unethical financial transactions and responsible use of social media were discussed in the meeting.
The RpMP Commissioner said that every member of police must work towards the goal that the public should look upon a uniformed police member with respect as a responsible person engaged in the service of the country and the people.
“In the implementation of the law, no person should be treated in an indecent manner or unnecessary force should be used,” he said.
Along with taking necessary measures according to the law, humane and polite behavior should be ensured.
Establishing people-friendly policing is possible only by strengthening mutual trust and involvement between the police and the public.
Senior police officers should listen carefully to junior members and give chance to express problems, sorrows, anger or complaints to resolve those through institutional and legal processes.
He said that good health is one of the greatest assets of a person. Even if there is not always an opportunity for regular PT-parade or sports, every member should get used to exercising, walking and living a healthy lifestyle on their own initiative.
He warned the police members that no member should be involved in online gambling, unethical transactions or illegal financial activities.
He urged the police to follow government instructions and regulations properly in the use of social media.
The programme of giving awards, certificates of appreciation and formal recognition to members for their efficiency and dedication in performing their duties will continue.
“Recognition of good work will not only encourage the police members but also play a positive role in their professional lives,” he said.
Additional Commissioners of Police (Admin and Finance) Naresh Chakma, Deputy Commissioners (DC) of Police (Crime and Ops) Tofail Ahmed, Sanatan Chakraborty (DB) and Maruf Ahmed (Traffic) and Additional DC of Police (Crime, Traffic) Shariful Alam, officers and police members were present.
