CHATTOGRAM, Aug 17, 2026 (BSS) - Deputy Inspector General (DIG) of Chattogram Range Abdul Quddus Chowdhury has instructed Chattogram district police to become more active, professional and technology-driven to curb crime and ensure public safety.
He gave the instruction today during a visit to the Chattogram District Police Superintendent’s (SP) office and an exchange-of-views meeting with senior district police officials and officers-in-charge (OCs) of all police stations.
The meeting reviewed the overall law and order situation in the district, types and trends of crime, investigation and disposal of cases, anti-drug activities and service-oriented initiatives of the police stations.
Emphasizing the need to eliminate drugs, the DIG said that not only retail sellers but also the main sources, suppliers and masterminds behind drug trafficking must be identified, arrested and brought to justice swiftly.
He also instructed the OCs to complete investigations into sensational and important cases quickly and ensure the execution of arrest warrants.
He instructed police personnel to behave courteously with women, children and members of the general public who come to police stations for services and provide prompt legal assistance to victims.
Chattogram District SP Masud Alam said police are working with utmost dedication to maintain normal law and order across the district. Special operations and surveillance will be intensified to prevent juvenile crime, theft, snatching, robbery and cybercrime.
