RAJSHAHI, Aug 17, 2026 (BSS) - Rajshahi Metropolitan Police (RMP) today held a crime review and coordination meeting with representatives of various agencies to assess the law and order situation in the metropolis in July.
RMP Commissioner Mohammad Faizul Kabir presided over the meeting at the RMP Headquarters conference room.
The meeting reviewed crimes committed during July, cases filed, progress in investigations, crime-control activities and the status of important cases. Discussions also focused on strengthening measures against drug-related crimes, juvenile delinquency, theft and robbery, and traffic congestion.
Representatives of government and private organizations shared their views on the city's law and order situation. The Women Chamber of Commerce expressed satisfaction with the overall situation, while Hope Bridge Foundation expressed interest in supporting beat policing, providing information and raising public awareness.
A representative of Rajshahi City Corporation said arrangements would be made for two-colored auto-rickshaws to operate at separate times in the morning and afternoon to help regulate their movement. Representatives of the Federation of NGOs Bangladesh and the Hindu-Bouddha-Christian Kalyan Front also expressed interest in working with police on public welfare and traffic management.
The police commissioner directed officers to conduct regular crime-control drives, strengthen anti-drug operations, ensure timely submission of medical and forensic reports for speedy disposal of cases and take strict legal action against criminals.
He urged all RMP units and police stations to perform their duties with greater sincerity, professionalism and coordination, emphasizing the need to provide prompt, quality policing services and ensure public safety.
