3-day blood grouping campaign for students begins at BRUR

RANGPUR, Aug 17, 2026 (BSS) - A three-day free blood grouping campaign for the newly admitted students of the 2025-26 academic sessions began at Begum Rokeya University, Rangpur (BRUR) today.
 
Vice-chancellor of the university Professor Dr Md Showkat Ali inaugurated the programme as the chief guest at a colorful ceremony organized in front of the university's Medical Center.
 
This free blood grouping campaign will be conducted from August 17 to August 19, 2026, under the overall supervision of the university's Medical Center in collaboration with the 'Bandhan' Begum Rokeya University Unit. 
 
In his inaugural address, the Vice-chancellor highly appreciated the commendable initiative of the voluntary organization 'Bandhan', which organizes this humane blood group test for students every year.
 
"Knowing the blood group is very important for everyone. This initiative of 'Bandhan' is very commendable," he said. 
 
The Vice-chancellor also said that in addition to determining the blood group of students, a rich database is being created, which will play an important role in saving the lives of not only university students but also general and poor patients in case of emergency. 
 
BRUR Registrar (Additional Charge) Professor Dr Md Ferdous Rahman, Controller of Examinations Professor Dr Md Zahid Hossain, Marketing Department Professor Md Ferdous Rahman, Deputy Chief Medical Officer of the Medical Center Dr AMM Shahriar, students from various departments and concerned persons attended the inaugural ceremony.
