CHATTOGRAM, Aug 17, 2026 (BSS) - Chattogram Range Police conducted 243 special anti-drug operations across 11 districts under the range, recovering 19,420 pieces of yaba, 139 kilograms and 651 grams of cannabis and 55 litres and 900 grams of locally brewed liquor.
During the 24-hour operation, police filed 61 cases under the Narcotics Control Act and arrested 172 people.
Ctg Range Deputy Inspector General (DIG) Abdul Quddus Chowdhury said this today, adding that the special operation was conducted across the 11 districts from yesterday morning.
He said police conducted 243 operations in different police station areas under the range and recovered a large quantity of yaba, cannabis and locally brewed liquor.
Legal action was taken against those involved in transporting and selling drugs, he said.
Following the operation, 61 cases were filed under the Narcotics Control Act and 172 people were arrested in connection with the cases.
Besides, 70 more people were sentenced to different terms of imprisonment through mobile courts for drug-related offences.
During the same period, the mobile courts also collected Tk 6,900 in fines.
