RUET students get internship opportunity at RCC for 1st time

RAJSHAHI, Aug 17, 2026 (BSS)- Students of Rajshahi University of Engineering 
and Technology (RUET) have been given the opportunity to do an internship at 
Rajshahi City Corporation (RCC) for the first time.

RUET students got this opportunity on the initiative of RCC Administrator 
Mahfuzur Rahman Riton. 

On the occasion of the RUET students' internship, an orientation programme 
was organised today at the meeting room of Nagar Bhaban.

RCC Administrator Mahfuzur Rahman Riton addressed the event as the chief 
guest while RCC Chief Executive Officer Rezaul Karim, RUET Director of 
Student Welfare Professor Dr. Rabiul Islam Sarkar, RCC Superintending 
Engineers Khairul Baker and Ahmad Al Moin Parag delivered speeches. 

The programme was conducted by RCC Secretary Sohel Rana. 

RCC Administrator said students are the future assets of the country. Along 
with acquiring academic knowledge, having an idea about the real work 
environment is very important for their future career, he added.

With this goal in mind, RUET students have been given the opportunity to 
intern at RCC, he said, adding, "Through this, they will be able to gain 
practical experience about the work environment of the City Corporation, 
engineering activities and urban development activities."

In the future, employment opportunities will be created for them based on 
merit, qualification and skills, Riton continued. 

He said RCC is not just an organization that provides services to city 
dwellers; the organization can also play an important role in developing the 
knowledge, skills and efficiency of the young generation.

"Mutual cooperation between RUET and Rajshahi City Corporation will be 
further increased. In the future, opportunities will be created for students 
to gain practical knowledge and experience," he added.

Student Araf Masud, who participated in the internship, said, "By getting the 
opportunity to intern at the RCC, we will be able to learn about the real 
working environment here."

Student Jannatun Ferdous said, "Our seniors did not get the opportunity to 
intern at the RCC before. We are the first to get this opportunity. This is a 
matter of great joy for us." 

It is mentionable that 18 students of RUET have got the opportunity to intern 
at RCC.

Through the internship, they will get the opportunity to gain practical 
experience about the activities of various branches including the engineering 
department of the City Corporation, urban infrastructure development, road 
and drainage system, urban planning and various development activities.

At the same time, they will get the opportunity to link the theoretical 
knowledge acquired at the university with real urban development activities.

As a result, before entering their future careers, the students' professional 
skills, problem-solving abilities and practical work experience will be 
further enriched.
