RAJSHAHI, Aug 14, 2026 (BSS)- Two members of the same family, Shamsher Ali, 60, and his daughter-in-law Tania Begum, 25, died tragically after being electrocuted in Charghat Upazila of the district.

The accident occurred around 1 pm today in Anupampur Colonipara village of the upazila.
 
The deceased Tania Begum was the wife of Shariful Islam of the same village. Her father-in-law Shamsher Ali was the son of the late Rekat Ali of the same village.
 
According to local residents and relatives of the deceased, a van was being charged inside the house. An electric wire from the van's connection was taken towards the cowshed. A rope for drying clothes was hanging next to that wire.On Friday noon, Tania Begum went to hang wet clothes on that rope and got electrocuted.
 
Seeing his daughter-in-law electrocuted, her father-in-law Shamsher Ali rushed to save her. At that time, he was also electrocuted.

Later, locals quickly rescued the two and took them to the Charghat Upazila Health Complex, where the doctor on duty declared them dead.
 
Local UP member Takdirul Islam and Mahbubur Rahman, Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Charghat Model Police Station confirmed the incident.
