RMP rescues 2 missing madrasah students within 72 hours

RAJSHAHI, Aug 14, 2026 (BSS) - Rajshahi Metropolitan Police (RMP) has rescued two missing madrasah students from Cox's Bazar within 72 hours of their disappearance.

The two child students went missing from in front of Al-Jamia As-Salafia educational institution in the Dangipara area of Ward No. 17 under Shahmakhdum Thana at around 7:00pm on August 10.

Two separate General Diaries (GDs) were filed with Shahmakhdum Thana on August 11 in connection with their disappearance.

According to the GDs, the missing students have been identified by the pseudonyms 'Rafi', 13, and 'Habib', 12. Rafi is a resident of Bagmara Thana in Rajshahi, while Habib hails from Manda Thana in Naogaon.

Following the filing of the GDs, a search operation was launched under the direction of RMP Commissioner Mohammad Faizul Kabir. Shahmakhdum police began tracing the students using information technology and intelligence gathered from various sources.

A special team of the police conducted searches at different locations and verified information to determine the whereabouts of the two students.

At one stage, police learned that the students were staying in the Cox's Bazar area. Acting on the information, a team of Shahmakhdum police conducted an operation there and rescued both students in good health within 72 hours.

The students were subsequently brought back to Shahmakhdum Thana. During preliminary questioning, they told police that they had travelled to Cox's Bazar to see the sea beach.

Police said the physical and mental condition of both students was normal.

After completing the necessary legal procedures, police handed over the two students to their respective fathers, who were present at the police station.

The families of the students expressed their deep gratitude to the RMP for locating and rescuing the two children and safely returning them to their families within a short time.
